Excavation permits are required prior to digging along or under all county and township roads, sidewalks, or other public places. A permit is required prior to constructing, removing or using any portion of county and township rights-of-way. There is no fee for this permit or service. You should remember always before you dig to contact the Ohio Utility Protection Service OUPS at 1-800-362-2764.
In case of any emergency repairs which present danger to life or property, work may proceed without the Lucas County Engineer's permission, however the Lucas County Engineer’s Office should be notified immediately 24 hours a day at 893-2232.
Application forms for permit(s) may be obtained at the Lucas County Engineer’s Office at 213-4540 or by writing to the Lucas County Engineer’s Office, One Government Center, Suite 870, Toledo, Ohio 43604-2258.
