FAQs
I have a question and need to get answers.
Contact the Lucas County Sanitary Engineer's office at 213-2926

When is the Lucas County Sanitary Engineer's office open? The office is open from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Why do we receive a water / sanitary sewer bill from the "City of Toledo Department of Public Utilities"?
Lucas County has an agreement with the City of Toledo to bill Lucas County customers

Why does my water / sanitary sewer bill have various charges such as the following:
WATER 2500 $27.15
LUCAS CO WATER $23.61
LUCAS CO SEWER WINTER-AVG. 2176 $56.49
$107.25

A bill such as the above indicates a Toledo water supply charge of $27.15 and Lucas County water distribution charge of $23.61 for 2,500 cubic feet of water. It also includes a Lucas County treatment and collection charge of $56.49 for 2,176 cubic feet of water usage.

What does "SEWER WINTER-AVG" in the above bill mean?
A - The above noted bill shows an actual water usage of 2,500 cubic feet. However, based on actual usage during winter months, winter averaging (2,176 cubic feet) allows us to reduce your bill based on the assumption that you use water during non-winter months for irrigation, washing cars, filling pools...

Who do I call if I suspect that there is a water main break or sanitary sewer plugged?
If it is due to a water main / sanitary sewer within the right of way contact the Lucas County Sanitary Engineer's office @ 419-213-2926. We have 24 hour per day, 7 days per week phone access to our employees via our office during normal working hours and an answering service after hours.

We have had problems with our existing private well and would like to know how we can get public water?
Submit a request for a petition to extend water from an existing water main to your property. Indicate the owner(s) of the property and mailing address. We will compile a list of properties along a proposed route for a water main extension and send the blank petition to you for soliciting signatures form those along the route.
