Ballpark Architects & Commissioners Debut Proposed Design Of Warehouse District Field
The architects designing the new Lucas County Ballpark shared their vision of baseball in the Warehouse District at an open public hearing of the Board of Lucas County Commissioners on Thursday, June 15th at 11:00am at Seagate Centre in downtown Toledo.

HNTB Sports Architecture, Toledo-based The Collaborative, Inc., and Finkbeiner, Pettis and Strout, along with Tom Chema and Pat Zohn of Gateway Consulting and representatives from the Toledo Mud Hens, presented plans, schematics and artistic renderings of the new Lucas County Ballpark.

An open public forum has been scheduled for Wednesday evening, June 28th from 6:30pm until 8:30pm, also at the Seagate Centre, for further public comment. Additionally, the public can forward suggestions, comments and ideas or gain access (after 11:00am 6/15) to the renderings and proposed design and other information, through the Lucas County Web Site at http://co.lucas.oh.us.

Highlights of the proposed plan for the new Lucas County Ballpark:

THE DESIGN PRESENTS A SIGNATURE PIECE OF URBAN ARCHITECTURE FOR REVITALIZING DOWNTOWN TOLEDO.

THE DESIGN FITS WITHIN THE $37 MILLION DOLLAR PROJECTION SET OUT IN THE ACTION PLAN.

ALMOST 7,000 PARKING SPACES WITHIN A 10 MINUTE WALK OF THE ENTRANCES.

IT HAS A CAPACITY FOR 10,000 BASEBALL FANS IN THE HEART OF THE WAREHOUSE AND CENTRAL BUSINESS DISTRICTS.

THE DESIGN WILL BE ACCESSIBLE TO ALL MEMBERS OF THE COMMUNITY.

THE DESIGN MAKES USE OF AND PAYS RESPECT TO THE ARCHITECTURAL HERITAGE OF THE CITY’S WAREHOUSE DISTRICT.

THE DESIGN IS OPEN TO PUBLIC ON MONROE & ST.CLAIR STREETS ALLOWING PEOPLE ON SIDEWALKS TO VIEW THE PARK ALL YEAR.

FANS CAN WALK RIGHT FROM THE SIDEWALK ONTO THE MAIN CONCOURSE OF THE BALLPARK.

CONCESSION SERVICE ON THE MAIN CONCOURSE WILL ALLOW FANS TO MAINTAIN EYE CONTACT WITH THE GAME WHILE IN LINE.

WILL BE ABLE TO WALK COMPLETELY AROUND THE PLAYING FIELD ON THE CONCOURSE BOTH INSIDE AND OUTSIDE THE PARK.

BALLPARK HAS FEATURES REMINISCENT OF OLD TIGER STADIUM, FENWAY PARK & THE POLO GROUNDS.

BALLPARK PROJECT CONTINUES TO STAY ON SCHEDULE WITH ALL MAIN STAKEHOLDERS WORKING TOGETHER.

EVERY MAJOR DEADLINE TO DATE HAS BEEN MET EITHER ON TIME OR SLIGHTLY AHEAD OF SCHEDULE.
