Another milestone in the construction of Fifth Third Field is underway, as crews have begun erecting the steel skeleton for a giant video scoreboard, located just past the left-field home-run fence along Monroe Street. The new video scoreboard is among the last projects to be completed, as construction at the ballpark begins to wind down.
Ballpark seating is nearing completion as well. The last of nearly 10,000 seats are expected to be installed around mid-February. Passersby will also notice netting and poles erected soon along Monroe Street to prevent home run balls from landing on passing traffic. Padding will also be installed on the home run fence later this month.
