
Ten Mud Hens home games will be seen locally on WTVG 13ABC and WTWB TV5
The Toledo Mud Hens, WTVG 13ABC, and WTWB TV5 have agreed to televise a total of 10 Mud Hens home
games during the inaugural 2002 season at Fifth Third Field. The TV schedule will include Opening Day
coverage on April 9th at 1:00 pm on 13abc.
WTVG 13ABC President and General Manager David Zamichow said, When they throw out the first pitch
at the new Fifth Third Field and the Mud Hens play ball downtown, the landscape of the city will be
changed forever. And WTVG is proud to be a part of the Hens new era. There's an enormous interest in
the first season and of course everyone wants to be at the first game. By broadcasting that game,
we'll make it possible for thousands of fans, young and old, to see a game they would have missed. And
throughout the season we'll bring the best games to Mud Hens fans. WTVG is the number one local
broadcaster in Toledo. Recently, broadcasting a Toledo Rockets football game, the Foodtown Holiday
Parade and the Border Battle pre-game show for the Ohio State/Michigan game. Throughout the year the
station broadcasts Toledo Rocket coaches show, the Jerry Lewis MDA Telethon and the Make-A-Wish Toledo
Telethon. The station also broadcast local choirs singing holiday songs and of course the Emmy winning
Zoo Today, produced in partnership with the Toledo Zoo.
TV5 General Manager Nancy Duwve said, It is with community pride and community spirit that we are
happy to announce the part that TV5, a division of Buckeye CableSystem, Inc., will play in the Toledo
Mud Hens new ballpark by televising six games throughout this first season. TV5 will be continuing a
tradition of televising Mud Hens games for the community which began years ago at Ned Skeldon Stadium.
