The Ohio Arts and Sports Facilities Commission held their
commission meeting in Toledo on October 10, 2000, at
C.O.S. I.
One of the agenda items for review by the
Commission was the Lucas County ballpark for the Toledo
Mud Hens.
The State legislature, in the States Capital
budget approved of $5.4 million for the ballpark. The
Ohio Arts and Sports Facilities Commission reviews in
detail all state capital projects and by resolution acts
to approve or disapprove the project based on certain criteria.
After hearing a presentation from Tom Chema, President of
Gateway Consulting, County Commission Board President
Sandy Isenberg and Mud Hen General Manager Joe Napoli, the
Commission unanimously approved to fund the project based
on 15% of project eligible costs up to a maximum of $5.4
million. Funds will be distributed to the County
incrementally based on proper invoicing.
This is great news for the project and the County
as state funding is an integral part of the financing
package.
The official groundbreaking ceremony for the
ballpark will be held October 20th at 11:30 a.m. on the
corner of Washington and Superior in the Seagate parking
facility
