Recycling Information -
Where to Reuse It or Lose It
Residential Recycling Drop-Off Centers
The Lucas County Solid Waste Management District’s Residential Recycling
Drop-Off Centers were designed to provide recycling opportunities
to everyone in the county, particularly those areas where curbside
recycling is not yet available. In the Spring of 2000, the District redesigned and upgraded the
Residential Drop-Off Centers and now provides over 30 public centers located at shopping centers, parks
and selected township locations. Click on the title to see where drop-off centers are located.
Yard Waste Collection Centers
The District provides for two collection centers in the country for residents to drop-off yard waste
materials such as grass, leaves and branches. These centers recycled more than 83,000 yards of
residential yard waste materials in 2006. A highly usable material, yard waste comprises more than 15%
of all waste disposed.
Household Hazardous Waste (HHW) Collection
The Lucas County Solid Waste Management District provides residents of Lucas County
with an on-going Household Hazardous Waste (HHW) Collection program. Residents of
Lucas County may safely dispose of their household use paints, varnishes, thinners,
pesticides, motor oil, chemical cleaners and batteries.
Waste Tire Recovery and Recycling Program
The Lucas County Solid Waste Management District has a waste tire recovery
and recycling program to assist Lucas County residents with safe and sanitary
disposal of unusable tires. Through this program alone, the District captured 32,506 tires for recycling in 2006.
Computer/Electronic Waste Program
The Lucas County Solid Waste Management District has implemented a new program
of year around Computer/Electronic Waste Recycling. The program is only for
Lucas County Residents and done by appointment. A nominal fee will be
charged. Please call the District office at 419-213-2230 to schedule your
appointment for a Friday or Saturday.
