The Lucas County Solid Waste Management District provides outreach and education programs. The District contracts with Keep/Toledo Lucas County Beautiful, Inc. to provide schools in Lucas County with comprehensive education and awareness activities for students as well as educators.
The school programs are designed for students from K-12, as well as pre-school, youth groups and scout
troops. Some hand-on instructional activities include making recycled paper jewelry and an edible
landfill.
The Lucas County Solid Waste Management District provides for KT/LCB to host educational
workshops specifically for educators and teachers of pre through high school. During these entertaining
and informative workshops, information is presented about the latest solid waste management, recycling,
litter prevention and environmental issues. Attending educators are given substantial curricula for
classroom use.
A lending library is also available with a wide variety of environmental education books, videos,
environmental education activities and informational brochures.
