The Lucas County Solid Waste Management District assists
companies having surplus, obsolete, off-spec or by-product or raw materials with Waste
Exchange Links and Data Bases for their unwanted materials.
Waste Exchanges are on-line, searchable, data bases which provide a forum for industries to
list and market unwanted but usable materials to other companies as a raw material.
Waste Exchanges are typically set up by category of materials and by regions for transportation
considerations. Contact the Lucas County Solid Waste Management District for more information
regarding a Waste Exchange for your materials.
Education and Awareness Program
The District provides speakers, literature, information, and in-house training for implementing specific
programs for business waste reduction and awareness programs. Assistance is tailored to accommmodate a company's specific
needs from general waste and recycling knowledge, information regarding specific materials or selected program information.
Recycling Collection
Companies, which generate standard waste recyclables in small quantities, can inquire about the District's
Recycling Collection Programs. The District can offer collection services to small businesses whose volumes
are not large enough for a private hauling company to provide service. The District currently offers collection
to companies for the materials collected through the Districts Residential Recycling Drop-off Centers.
