| Do I need to use *Wildcards* when I search? | No, our AREIS Application takes care of inserting wildcards for you. For a detailed explanation, Click Here | |
| How do I report a problem with a Structure Sketch or Photo? | There is now a link to an email address on the Structure Photo Window which may be used to report any problems (black picture, no picture, dramatic change in appearance). An email address will be provided on the Structure Sketch Window shortly. | |
| Why is the AREIS Online window so small (or so big) on my screen? | Try changing your screen resolution. We have found through testing that a resoluton of 800x600 (or higher) yeilds the best results. If AREIS looks too small, lower your resolution. | |
| Why doesn't the Previous Map button always work? | At this time, we are able to offer a "Previous Map" button that has limited capabilities. It works only after you have ZOOMED or PANNED on the map. It will not work if the last action performed was turning on/off a layer, a search, or if you just left the data pages. | |
| Why have Right Clicks been disabled? How can I save the map? | We had to disable "Right Click" functionality for technical reasons. You may now right click on the map, photo, or sketch in the AREIS Online Applicaton Window to save it. You can also save the map by choosing the Print tool and selecting the Map Only option. Once the new browser window appears with the map in it, Right Click on the map and perform a "Save As...". | |
| Why does the map I printed not fit on the paper? | When printing the "Map Only" option, you will need to change your settings to print in LANDSCAPE format. | |
| Why can't I read some of the text when I print a map? | When printing a map, if the aerial photos are not on, the text is surrounded by small gray boxes. These boxes are used so that you can easily read the text when the aerial photos are on, unfortunately they make the text hard to read when no photos are on. We are working to reslove this issue. | |
| Why do the fonts in AREIS Online not fit on my screen or look weird? | We have found that if you change your Browser Text size, this problem
is fixed. To do this, follow these steps: MS Internet Explorer Click the VIEW MENU, hover over TEXT SIZE and choose Medium Netscape Click the VIEW MENU, hover over TEXT SIZE and choose 100% (original size) |
|
| Why does it take so long for the map to change? | The time it takes to draw the map is dependent on general Internet congestion levels as well as some factors under your control. The more layers (lines/shading/text/photos) you have open at a time, the longer it will take to draw. This becomes very apparent if you are zoomed out quite a bit with many layers on, it takes more time to draw all of the detail. Try turning off some of the layers until you are zoomed in to an acceptable level. | |
| Why doesn't the information change when I choose a different entry in the Results Window? | Make sure you are actually clicking on a word or number in the results window, not in blank space. | |
| Why does nothing select when I click on the map? | First, make sure you have the Identify tool selected from the Toolbar. If Identify is your selected tool and you still receive no results, you have most likely clicked on a Street or Right-Of-Way which are not selectable. Try again and make sure you are clicking within a Parcel boundary. | |
| Why can't I select multiple parcels, create buffer searches, zoom in by drawing a box, or pan by dragging? |
Features will be added in the future as better technology becomes available. For more advanced mapping functions, consider purchasing the AREIS DVD. |
